New Blog, New Day

Here we go learning as I type. Never thought myself as a blogger but we all need to learn new things in this new world we are living in 2020!

October 10, 1965, I chose a book to read (with a lot of help from my grandmother) by the name of The Murder at the Vicarage by Agatha Christie. I fell in love with Miss Marple and became a lifelong lover of the Whodunit. I continued with each book of that series, moved on to the Detective Hercules Poirot series, most of the Nancy Drew novels, and tried to absorb as many mystery novels I could find.

As I grew, I became interesting and read a great deal in Mathematics, History, Science, and Philosophy. However, I never lost the love of the mystery. I guess it is the natural love of puzzles that continues to this day. I have as I age choose to read cozy mysteries so that I get the whodunit without having to worry of excess violence, vulgar language, and explicit sexual actions. This is part reason for searching of clean books with moving topics; relationships, friendships, family importance.

The most important part of reading for me is to immerse into an new city (or "old friend" city if I am ready series), state, or country. I love learning about people and their culture and their interactions with others. My grandmother, who raised me, told me often that listening is so much more important than talking. When one is talking they may miss something but if you listen well, you can understand so much better.

I live in west central Texas with a Cajun husband and three very spoiled furbabies! We are constantly in chaos as we have been remodeling our home. Anyone who has done remodeling or repairing of their own home knows the consistent never-ending list of new things to repair or replace and that the cost only goes up since there is always something new to have to fix!
